An illustrated guide for Americans (and their government) to socialist Cuba
In this wonderfully drawn cartoon you'll breeze through Cuban history from Columbus' "discovery" of the island through the first decade of the revolution which overthrew Batista. It's a big job, introducing such a huge cast of characters, the villains from Spain and later Washington, their puppets in Havana, and the heroes on the island, but Rius does it superbly, drawing not only cartoons but a basic outline of about 100 years of Cuban history as well. The major accomplishments of the early years of the revolution are detailed.
RIUS, pseudonym of Eduardo del Rio, was born in Michoacan, Mexico, in 1934.
